The American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Coin Act was passed by Congress and signed into law on July 17th, 2008 as Public Law 110-277. The act authorizes the United States Mint to issue commemorative silver dollar coins to honor those heroes who answered the call to duty and served with distinction around the world throughout our country’s history, particularly those who continue to live with the wounds and scars of military service as well as those who gave their lives while defending our freedom.
A surcharge from the sale of each 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar is to be paid to support the construction of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington, D.C. which was authorized by Congress in 2000.
